The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has arrested and charged one man in relation to a fatal collision at the intersection of Marquis Road and 2nd Avenue West in September.

On September 17, 2025 just before 12:00 a.m., members of the Prince Albert Police Service attended a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Marquis Road and 2nd Ave West along with Parkland Ambulance and Prince Albert Fire Department.

Upon arrival, three people were transported from one vehicle which was struck on the passenger side.

One of the patients, 28-year-old Shawna Ratt, later passed away in hospital from injuries received from the collision.

The other two patients were treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

On October 20, 2025, investigators with the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to the September 17, 2025 fatal collision.

The 24-year-old man has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, operating a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal limit, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm (x2), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm (x2).

The accused has been released on conditions and will make their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on November 4, 2025.
