The Meadow Lake Tribal Council has entered an agreement with an industry partner to improve lumber services in MLTC communities.

The tribal council signed a memorandum of understanding with Tolko Industries to establish a Lumber for Nations program.

The program will aim to support building projects in the communities represented by MLTC.

The program will provide both purchasing opportunities and product donations for community projects.

“MLTC is pleased to collaborate with Tolko in providing additional direct benefits of finished wood products, from our lumber and OSB mills, for use by MLTC’s First Nation communities,” says Tribal Chief Jeremy Norman. “I applaud the leadership of Tolko in taking this step with the Meadow Lake Tribal Council.”

This new agreement builds on a previous MOU signed in 2024 establishing a framework for both parties to work together to advance mutual interests in forestry activities.

This latest MOU was signed for an initial period of five years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
