Northern leaders will be visiting the northern community of Denare Beach on Friday.
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Chief Peter A. Beatty, members of the PBCN Council, and northern MP Buckley Belanger will visit the community.
The purpose of the visit will be to assess the damage to homes and properties in the area.
Reports have said Denare Beach was one of communities most devastated by the northern wildfires.
However, specific details on the extent of the damage have never been released.
According to a release from the PBCN, the visit will allow leadership to observe the situation and begin to identify supports that will be needed in the weeks ahead.
“We are committed to standing with our members during this difficult time,” said Chief Beatty. “Our visit to Denare Beach is about listening, observing, and making sure no one is left behind as we move toward recovery.”
PBCN leaders say they will share updates from the visit and keep community members informed.
