Tribute Paid To Missing And Murdered

Over 100 people marched through Prince Albert today in a bid to raise awareness about the number of Aboriginal people who have gone missing or have been lost to violence.
Parents, family and friends of missing men and women packed in front of city hall this morning before walking up to the Prince Albert Grand Council.
Tributes were paid along the way to four people who recently lost their lives to violence in northern communities, and to one who has gone missing.
Greg Naytowhow, Farro Bird, and Kerry Naytowhow all died on March 2nd, 2005 after a shooting on the Montreal Lake reserve.
Leslie Longjohn died during a domestic dispute at Sturgeon Lake.
Emily Osmond was reported missing by her family on September 20th of last year.
The 78-year-old elder has a home just north of the Kawacatoose First Nation.
PAGC Vice-Chief Don Deranger says situations like these are devastating for families and they happen everywhere in the province.
The organizer of today’s event, Corinne Fiddler, says the PAGC keeps record of the number of people who go missing, and she says the results are astounding.
This is the fourth year the walk has been held.
