A man who served as chief of the Kawacatoose First Nation for two decades has passed away.
62-year-old Richard Poorman died Sunday in Regina from pneumonia and complications from diabetes.
His cousin, Henry Poorman, says he will always be remembered as a great leader and the chief who negotiated the band’s treaty land entitlement deal.
Richard Poorman served as chief at Kawacatoose from 1982 to 2002.
His funeral will take place tomorrow at the Kawacatoose band hall.
