A consultant involved with the MRI clinic the Kawacatoose First Nation is proposing for Regina insists it will be not-for-profit.

Don Ross is with McNair Business Development, which is working with the First Nation.

He says the clinic would comply with all provincial and federal regulations such as the Canada Health Act.

Ross says it’s unfortunate the outgoing board chair of the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations recently spoke out against the clinic.

Alex Taylor told delegates at SAHO’s recent AGM that the association had written a letter to the health minister expressing his group’s opposition to the clinic if it was for-profit.

Ross says he has advised the Kawacatoose chief and council to meet with the new chair of SAHO, so the organization knows exactly what its plans are for the health centre.
