The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in the case of an Aboriginal woman murdered in Saskatoon almost 14 years ago.

Janet Sylvestre’s body was found 15 km outside of Saskatoon on October 13, 1994.

At the time of her murder, there was a serial killer in the area who preyed on Aboriginal women.

John Martin Crawford was convicted of other murders and is now in prison, but was never found guilty of Sylvestre’s murder — even though some believe many signs pointed to him.

Warren Goulding wrote a book about Sylvestre’s murder, as well as the murders of other Aboriginal women.

Goulding says similar conditions still exist that place Aboriginal women in vulnerable positions.

The Saskatchewan RCMP are looking for help in three other cold cases, and promise to continue sending out news releases in unsolved murders.
