Prince Albert Conservative MP Brian Fitzpatrick says he’s pleased with the results of a recent fish marketing survey in northern Saskatchewan.

Late last year, residents received a questionnaire asking them if they think commercial fishers should be allowed to market their own catch.

They were also asked if legislative changes should be made to break the monopoly of the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.

According to Fitzpatrick, between 80 and 90 per cent of the 125 respondents answered “yes” to all of the questions.

He says he plans to share the data with Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn.

However, Fitzpatrick acknowledges it will be tough to pass new legislation in a minority parliament.
