There are 321 active cases of COVID-19 in the north according to the Northern Inter Tribal Health Authority (NITHA).

The far northeast is reporting the most active cases with 143. The far northwest currently has 86 active cases, followed by the northeast, which is at 46. The north central region is at 42 and Athabasca in the far north central has four active cases.

Nine people are in hospital while 497 recoveries are being reported.

Outbreak over at Sturgeon Lake 

NITHA also reported Monday they have declared an end to the outbreak on Sturgeon Lake First Nation. The outbreak was declared on Oct. 21.

Dr. Nnambdi Ndubuka, the health authority’s medical health officer declared an end to the outbreak after the standard 28 period had passed after the onset of the last case which had the potential to cause transmission on the first nation.

People are reminded to follow public health guidelines including masking and using proper hand washing protocols.
