Four people will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court today, charged with traffic and weapons related offenses following a brief police chase near Turtleford early Wednesday morning.

RCMP say they were patrolling the Thunderchild First Nation at approximately 1:30 AM and attempted to pull over a vehicle for being unregistered.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled west towards Turtleford.

Mounties were unsuccessful in deploying a spike belt.

The vehicle was later seen driving on the wrong side of the road at a high rate of speed.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle became stuck in a ditch near Turtle Lake, where the occupants surrendered.

Police located a sawed-off firearm with ammunition in the vehicle.
