Around 130 residents marched through the streets of Prince Albert in steady rain today in memory of missing women.

Chiefs, politicians and community leaders all talked about the need to raise awareness about the disappearance of Aboriginal people.

Gail Halkett was one of the many people who marched holding pictures of loved ones.

She says it was her cousin, Kevin Charles, who suddenly disappeared 13 years ago in Chitek Lake.

Lac La Ronge Indian Band councillor Doris Morin says the march is an important way for hurting family members to realize they’re not alone.

Other marchers say the pain of losing loved ones will never go away, but the march does provide some solace.
