Saskatchewan’s child and youth advocate says he is in support for an Indigenous children and youth advocate working for the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, but not a provincially-funded advocate.
Corey O’Soup says he has spoken to FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron about the matter.
He says his office has embarked on a new strategic direction, which is hoping to improve the quality of life for First Nations and Métis children in care.
O’ Soup says he welcomes any resources, which help Indigenous children succeed, given the high rates of children in care, in the justice system and low graduation rates.
