Northern Health Stakeholders Meet In La Ronge

The third annual Northern Health Conference got underway in La Ronge this morning.

 

The three-day event is being hosted by northern municipalities and the three northern health regions.

 

The theme for this year’s conference is “Tools for Healthy Communities”.

 

Organizers say the gathering will focus on topics such as pandemic planning, early childhood learning & development and primary health care.

 

The keynote speaker for the event is the founding president of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, Dr. J. Fraser Mustard.

 

Among other things, Mustard will be speaking on the socio-economic determinants of health and well-being in society.

 

Provincial health minister Len Taylor will be on hand for a banquet this evening.

 

The conference is taking place at the Kikinahk Friendship Centre.
