Fond du Lac Band Members Choose New Leader

The Fond du Lac First Nation has elected Victor Fern to be its new chief.

He takes over from Allan Adam, who failed in his bid to stay on as leader.

Fern defeated fellow challenger Joe Martin on the third ballot Friday afternoon.

Joining Fern on band council are incumbents Georgie McDonald, Willie Laurent, Napoleon Pacquette and Justin Mercredi and newcomers Flora Augier and Florence Crookedneck.

They will each serve a term of two years.
