MNS Prepared To Conduct Referendum

Officials at the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan seem prepared to embrace a referendum proposal to help decide whether another MNS election is needed.

The idea was brought up at a meeting in Batoche this past weekend by a group of Metis local presidents who are unhappy with the current state of affairs.

MNS president Dwayne Roth says he met with a representative from those talks yesterday, and has agreed to give it a try.

Roth says they’re working right now on drafting the question to be put to Metis people in the referendum.

He can’t say when the voting will take place, but says his group will try to make the voting as inclusive as possible.

However, Roth says the referendum likely won’t be run by an outside group.
