Over 55 thousand dollars in fines have been levied against six Saskatchewan men for illegal outfitting and hunting in the North Battleford area.
The charges follow a year-long undercover investigation of the REZZ RAXX Outfitting Company on the Red Pheasant First Nation.
The officers posed as hunters from the United States and booked services through the outfitting company where they observed the illegal activities, which included: operating and guiding without a license, hunting on posted land and using search lights to track down game.
The largest fine of nearly 18 thousand dollars was imposed on 39-year-old Lawrence Lee Meechance for running an outfitting company without a license.
Other fines ranged from 1,100 to 12 thousand dollars. All of the men have also been banned from hunting, except on their own reserve land and only for subsistence hunting.
Others charged and fined include:
38-year-old Robin Wuttenuee was fined more than 12 thousand dollars for illegal hunting, using a search light and guiding without a license.
32-year-old Tyrone Adam Cuthand was fined more than 10 thousand dollars for illegal hunting and guiding without a license.
27-year-old Dennis Kennedy was fined more than 3,000 dollars for unlawful hunting and guiding without a license.
28-year-old Stephen Armstrong was fined 10 thousand dollars for guiding without a license and unlawful hunting.
28-year-old Greg Meechance was fined more than 1,100 dollars for falsifying an export permit application.
All of them have all also been banned from hunting except on their First Nation and only for their own needs
