A spokesman for the Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism says the organization is worried about a potential backlash against the Idle No More movement.

Bob Hughes says he has heard a number of inflammatory and misinformed remarks about the movement on open line call in shows.

He says the coalition against racism supports the Idle No More movement’s call for a peaceful solution to outstanding treaty concerns but not everyone understands the issues.

Hughes adds his organization is encouraged by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s announcement earlier today that he will meet with First Nations leaders on Jan. 11.
