Saskatoon Police have released the name of the man who was the province’s first homicide victim of the year.

Police say 28-year-old Jonathan Livingston Moosewaypayo was taken to hospital early New Year’s day and died of his injuries.

Officers had been called to a home in the 100 block of Avenue O South around 12:30 a.m. about a man who had been stabbed.

The Major Crimes Unit is conducting interviews and an autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow.

So far no arrests have been made in the case.
