A glimpse into Aboriginal history in Saskatchewan will soon be available on DVD.

Evelyn Poitras is in the final editing stage of “Buffalo: A Memorial”.

The film started out as simply a record of various fundraising projects for diabetes — but it evolved into a history of great Aboriginal sports achievements and the impact of residential schools.

Poitras says First Nations people don’t know enough about their history and she hopes to change that:

“Our own young people should know it — but even some of our older people, too, they’re not aware of it because we haven’t shared our stories this way before.  So, I just think that’s important to do.”

The DVDs are expected to be available by the end of November.

Poitras says her main market is schools and broadcasters, but the public can buy them, too.
