Indigenous organizations across the province have been granted additional time to apply for some community support grants.

The Ministry of Government Relations announced on Wednesday that the application deadline for the First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects Fund has been extended to November 6.

The fund is designed to support innovative collaborations with First Nations and Métis communities, focusing on safe communities, strong families, student achievement, and economic growth.

Successful applicants are eligible to receive up to $45,000 or up to 40 per cent of eligible project costs.

“It is important to get these dollars into community to make a difference,” said Eric Schmalz, Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs. “I encourage organizations to look at their upcoming projects and the grants’ criteria. Organizations that aren’t sure if they are eligible should contact the Ministry of Government Relations for more information.”

The province is also taking the moment to remind the public of two ongoing funding initiatives that are open on a continuing basis.  These include the MMIWG+ Community Response Fund, which offers up to $40,000 per project and First Nations and Métis Sponsorships for reconciliation and cultural building events.
