A Kamsack man is Saskatchewan’s newest millionaire after hitting a massive progressive jackpot at Dakota Dunes Casino near Saskatoon.
Christopher Straightnose won $1,331,529.23 on the Smoke Signals progressive jackpot while playing at Dakota Dunes Casino on Whitecap Dakota First Nation on Oct. 30. He received his winnings during an official cheque presentation ceremony on Nov. 4.
Officials with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) said they were excited to celebrate the win.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this win with him and to present Christopher with his winnings today,” said Marcia Doan, Dakota Dunes Casino Acting General Manager .
SIGA Senior Vice President of Operations Lionel Tootoosis said the jackpot highlights the excitement the Smoke Signals progressive brings to guests across all seven SIGA casinos.
The Smoke Signals jackpot has now paid out more than $81.5 million since its launch. The top-tier prize, which starts at $1 million and must be awarded before reaching $2 million, has since been reset to $1 million.
Smoke Signals links 51 slot machines located at all seven SIGA casinos across Saskatchewan, giving players a chance to trigger one of three progressive jackpot tiers during play.
SIGA says net profits from its casino operations support First Nations communities, community development corporations and the province.
