The Saskatchewan RCMP are waring the public of an email scam that is said to be circulating in the province.

The email scam says that they are the RCMP and that “the recipient is the subject of a cybercrime investigation.”

They say that in the email, it threatens that the recipient will be arrested unless they contact the investigators, through the email, carcmpgrca@gmail.com.

This email is a scam and that email address does not get you to the RCMP.

A good resource when looking to investigate if a email is suspicious is the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s website.

What should you do if you get a suspicious email?

If you receive a suspicious email:

  • don’t email them back
  • don’t click any links
  • don’t send them any personal information
  • don’t send them any money or gift cards

If you are unsure of the legitimacy of an email that appears to be from the RCMP or believe you are the victim of a fraud, please contact your local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP.

If you receive an email that you believe to be a scam or fraudulent, you can report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

You can report by phone (Toll free: 1-888-495-8501) or online here: Report Frauds and Cybercrime.
