The Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre is inviting residents to give unwanted items a second life while helping neighbours access household goods at no cost during a free community garage sale this week.
The event will take place Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre building, located at 107 Myrtle Ave.
The sale is designed to encourage sharing within the community by connecting gently used items with people who can use them. Residents are encouraged to donate clothing, household items, books, toys and other reusable goods they no longer need.
Unlike a traditional garage sale, all items will be available free of charge.
The Friendship Centre says the event promotes community support while helping keep usable items out of the landfill. Visitors are invited to stop by, browse available items and take home anything they need.
The garage sale is open to everyone in the community.
Those wishing to donate items ahead of the event can drop them off at the Friendship Centre. Residents looking for more information can contact Roxane at 306-621-6705.
Organizers hope the event will encourage neighbours to share resources, support one another and ensure good items find new homes within the community.
