A 22-year-old man is facing an impaired driving charge following a fatal two-vehicle collision near Hepburn on Saturday night that claimed the life of a teenager.
At approximately 10:10 p.m. on September 12, Rosthern RCMP responded to a report of a crash involving a truck and an SUV on Highway 12, just north of the Highway 312 intersection.
The driver of the SUV, a 16-year-old girl from Shellbrook, was declared dead by emergency medical services at the scene. RCMP say her family has been notified.
A passenger in the SUV was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently arrested by police.
As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Riley Farthing of Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, has been charged under Section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code with one count of operation while impaired of a motor vehicle causing death.
Farthing made his first court appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday.
Rosthern RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
