Saskatchewan RCMP have upgraded the charge against a man accused in a homicide investigation in Turnor Lake.
Police say 29-year-old Darian Montgrand is now charged with second-degree murder upgrading the initial charge of manslaughter.
The investigation began after officers responded to an incident in Turnor Lake in May, where an adult male was found seriously injured. The victim later died, prompting Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit to take over the investigation.
Montgrand was initially charged with manslaughter as investigators continued to gather evidence. Following further investigation, police determined the charge should be upgraded to second-degree murder.
RCMP say Montgrand was scheduled to appear by CCTV in La Loche Provincial Court on Monday to face the new charge.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
