Later on July 26, following the shooting that occurred on Highway #165, La Ronge RCMP located a grey truck that matched the suspect vehicle’s description.
Officers engaged the police vehicle’s emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The truck did not stop for police; instead, it fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers set up a tire deflation device on Highway #2 south of Weyakwin, which the grey truck ran over. Shortly after, the grey truck came to a stop. A male exited the truck and fled on foot into a nearby treed area.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team and Police Dog Services were engaged to assist. A remotely piloted aircraft was also deployed to conduct aerial searches of the area. As a result of investigation, a male was located and arrested on Highway #2. Officers seized the grey truck, which investigation determined was previously reported as stolen in Meadow Lake.
As a result of continued investigation, 28-year-old Miami Morin from Meadow Lake, SK is charged with:
- one count, operation while prohibited, Section 320.18, Criminal Code;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.
Miami Morin appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 28, 2026 (Information #90588779).
Pinehouse RCMP continue to investigate the shooting, which includes working to locate the white truck. The truck is described as a Ford F150, with partial Alberta license plate 9UL. It is described as having a smashed back window.
Officers also continue work to locate a potential second injured individual to confirm their well-being.
