A 22-year-old Nipawin man is facing charges after RCMP say a teenage girl was allegedly lured through social media and unlawfully confined.

Ahtahkakoop RCMP say the man had been communicating with the girl online before meeting her on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation on July 12.

Police say the pair left the community together in the man’s vehicle, prompting an immediate report to RCMP.

Officers located the pair at a residence in Nipawin about two hours after receiving the initial complaint. The girl was safely located and the man was arrested.

Drann McKay, 22, of Nipawin has been charged with one count of unlawful confinement and one count of sexual interference.

McKay made his first appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court on July 16.

The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from Nipawin RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Serious Crimes Unit.
