The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is inviting families, Elders, youth and leaders to attend its 2nd Annual Family Wellness Gathering from July 14 to 16 at the La Ronge Urban Reserve.
The three-day event will focus on wellness, cultural connection, healing, mental health, addiction recovery and resilience through keynote presentations, cultural workshops and family activities.
The gathering builds on the success of last year’s event, which attracted more than 1,600 participants.
Chief Tammy Cook-Searson said the gathering provides an opportunity for families to come together and strengthen community well-being.
“Last year showed us what’s possible when we come together in a good way to improve the health of our community and LLRIB members. This gathering is an opportunity for every family to join us again — to learn, to heal and to celebrate the strength of who we are.”
Attendees can expect a full schedule of wellness-focused programming, including keynote speakers, hands-on cultural workshops, youth and family activities, daily meals and evening entertainment.
The gathering will also feature a Cultural and Healing Village where participants can take part in activities such as moosehide tanning, birch bark crafts, fish net making, traditional medicine teachings, beading and art therapy, while connecting with Elders, and community leaders.
