A family tradition continues on the ball diamonds.

Ian Quewezance and his son and teammate, Kayden Quewezance, are both playing for the Southeast Senior Baseball League’s Canora Supers.

Ian coached Kayden and his siblings, just as Ianʼs dad taught him baseball.

“My dad built a backstop for baseball in our backyard, when we were little kids, me and my brother.,” Ian said. “When [Kayden and his siblings] started playing baseball I did the same thing, a little baseball setup in our backyard,” said Ian.

“It means a lot to be playing with my dad,” said Kayden. “It felt great.”

One day, Ian expects his grandkids to be learning how to play baseball from Kayden.

Ian plays infield and Kayden plays outfield and pitcher.

“I was able to hit a grand slam during one of the games he played with us”, said Ian. “I felt a lot of joy in that one. Just in that moment.”

Kayden admitted he was a bit nervous about playing in the menʼs league, having just turned 18 and being the youngest on his team, but is excited by the opportunity to learn more and practice his skills alongside his dad.

Kayden played Triple A baseball for the Yorkton Expos last year.
