Production has resumed at Cameco’s Cigar Lake uranium mine in northern Saskatchewan following a temporary shutdown earlier this month.

The company announced operations restarted after Orano’s McClean Lake mill resumed processing ore.

Mining at Cigar Lake had been suspended on July 1 because operational issues at the mill’s sulphuric acid plant left the site unable to process uranium ore.

Cameco says stockpiled ore is now being shipped to the McClean Lake mill, while mining activities at Cigar Lake have resumed.

The company says the temporary interruption is not expected to affect its 2026 production outlook, which remains between 17.5 and 18 million pounds of uranium oxide on a 100 per cent basis.

Cameco cautioned that its production outlook could still be affected if another interruption occurs at either Cigar Lake or the McClean Lake mill, but says it currently expects operations to continue as planned.
