RCMP are investigating after a teenager was seriously injured in an assault in Île-à-la-Crosse last week.

Police say officers were called around 12:20 p.m. on May 30th after receiving a report of an injured teenage boy.

Investigators determined the teen was walking in the northern portion of Ahenakew Boulevard near Highway 908 when he was approached by a group of individuals in an SUV.

RCMP say the group exited the vehicle and chased the teen into a nearby wooded area, where he was threatened and assaulted.

The victim was able to escape and seek help before being transported to hospital, where he was treated for injuries described as serious.

As part of the investigation, police are asking residents in the northern Ahenakew Boulevard area to review security camera, doorbell camera and dashcam footage recorded between noon and 1 p.m. on May 30th.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has video evidence is asked to contact Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing.
