Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a suspicious death after a deceased man was found on Mistawasis First Nation earlier this week.
Shellbrook RCMP say officers were called to a rural area on the First Nation at approximately 6:20 p.m. on June 4 after receiving a report of a deceased adult male.
Police immediately secured the scene and launched an investigation.
RCMP say the death is considered suspicious and Major Crimes investigators have now taken carriage of the file.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is assisting with the investigation and officials are working to confirm the identity of the deceased.
Investigators are asking anyone who observed suspicious activity or unfamiliar individuals in the Mistawasis First Nation or Shellbrook areas between the evening of June 1 and the evening of June 4 to contact police.
RCMP say residents can expect an increased police presence in and around Mistawasis First Nation and Shellbrook as investigators continue gathering evidence.
Police have not released any additional details and say updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
