On June 11, 2026, at approximately 2:15am, members of the Prince Albert Police Service commenced an investigation into a robbery where a female was allegedly robbed of her vehicle at gunpoint in the 2700 Block of 2nd Ave East.
Officers attended the scene and located two adult females who did not appear to have any physical injuries. The vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Through their investigation, and within minutes of the initial report of the robbery, officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of Marquis Road East and 4th Avenue East. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not stop for police.
Police observed what appeared to be a female driver. A pursuit was authorized due to the violent nature of the initial call for service. The driver continued to evade police eastbound on Marquis Road East and then proceeded northbound on 15th Avenue East to River Street East, where the vehicle entered the river at approximately 2:20am.
Police were immediately on scene and observed two occupants from the vehicle in the river.
With the assistance of the Prince Albert Fire Department rescue boat and the deployment of an RCMP drone, a 22-year-old female, identified as the driver of the vehicle, was located on the riverbank a short distance east of where the vehicle had entered into the water.
The 22-year-old female driver was transported to the Victoria Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
She has been subsequently arrested in relation to this incident and police continue to investigate. The second adult female occupant of the vehicle remains outstanding and has not yet been located.
Extensive search efforts continue with the assistance of Prince Albert Fire Department, Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) dive team and Saskatchewan Marshalls Service. The identification of the outstanding female occupant has not yet been confirmed.
As a result of police involvement before the vehicle entered the water, the Prince Albert Police Service has notified the Serious Incident Response Team. SIRT has taken carriage of the investigation into the circumstances of police involvement in this incident.
