The La Ronge Ice Wolves have announced the hiring of Taylor Harnett as the team’s new Head Coach and Assistant General Manager.

Harnett brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the junior hockey level, having worked in the BCHL, NAHL, MJHL and AJHL. He spent much of that time as Head Coach and General Manager of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, where he was nominated for MJHL Coach of the Year.

A proud member of Carry the Kettle First Nation, Harnett has also coached at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and brings a strong Indigenous hockey background to the organization.

“I’m extremely excited to get directly involved in the community and to get to know the fans, players and staff,” Harnett said. “It’s truly an honour, and the support I have been shown already has been amazing.”

Harnett added he is looking forward to working with newly appointed General Manager Bob Beatty.

“I’ve heard great things about the community and the program. I’m thrilled to be able to connect and coordinate with Bob Beatty. His knowledge and experience is seasoned and proficient. I truly look forward to it, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The hiring comes after the Ice Wolves finished last in the SJHL this past season.
