A wildfire burning south of Prince Albert near MacDowall has prompted an ongoing response from Saskatchewan wildfire crews and emergency officials.

According to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, the fire was reported in the Nisbet Forest area between MacDowall and Duck Lake, with smoke visible from Highway 11 and nearby rural communities.

Local authorities have warned residents to remain alert for possible evacuation notices as changing winds continue to affect fire behaviour.

Highway access and nearby rural roads have also experienced intermittent restrictions due to heavy smoke and active firefighting operations.

Crews on the ground, supported by water bombers and emergency personnel, continue efforts to contain the blaze.

Officials are urging the public to avoid the area and monitor official SPSA wildfire maps and emergency alerts for updates.

It’s expected that the SPSA will provide an update of the situation on Friday.
