The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan Provincial Métis Council has voted to welcome back two previously suspended regional representatives.
In a statement released Thursday, the PMC confirmed Western Region 2 Director Sherry McLennan and Western Region 3 Director Wendy Gervais have been reinstated effective immediately.
The council said the resolution reflects Métis values of “wahkotowin and sitoskatowin,” emphasizing the importance of working together in a good way for citizens.
“The PMC is focused on maintaining a good working relationship with all members of PMC and MN-S staff, to work together for the benefit of the nation and its citizens,” the statement said.
McLennan and Gervais had previously been suspended during political infighting within Métis Nation–Saskatchewan leadership.
The two were initially suspended due to a harassment allegation from the then CEO of MN-S, but the findings of the harassment investigation have never been made public.
The PMC says the return of McLennan and Gervais is important to supporting good governance and strengthening the work of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly moving forward.
The next MNLA is this weekend in Saskatoon.
