Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP have arrested and charged a 44-year-old man following an assault investigation into an altercation earlier this week.
Police say they were called to a report of an armed male and an assault involving an adult female on May 5, 2026, around 11 p.m.
Investigators determined an altercation occurred outside a residence, during which the woman was assaulted and later transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect reportedly threatened the woman and others before leaving the scene.
RCMP later located and arrested Abraham McCallum at a second residence on the same street.
Officers also seized two machetes and a prohibited firearm during the arrest.
McCallum faces multiple charges, including assault with a weapon and several weapons-related offences.
He is scheduled to return to court in Meadow Lake on May 11, 2026.
