The list of people receiving the Saskatchewan Order of Merit this year includes two Indigenous artists.
One of the recipients is Donny Parenteau, a Metis singer and musician who was born and raised in Prince Albert.
Another recipient is Lionel Peyachew, a Cree artist from the Red Pheasant First Nation.
He is currently an assistant professor at the First Nations University of Canada.
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was established in 1985 to celebrate excellence and achievements by Saskatchewan citizens.
They will be invested with the medal of the Order at a ceremony in Regina in June.
