From a news release sent by Nipawin RCMP,

On March 29, 2026, around 5:10 p.m., Nipawin RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence in Nipawin.

Officers immediately responded. Investigation determined a victim was assaulted and forcibly confined before escaping and contacting police. EMS transported the victim to hospital to receive care for injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.

Nipawin RCMP, with assistance from Carrot River RCMP, arrested seven individuals at the residence. Officers then executed a search warrant in the residence and seized five firearms, 14 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of fentanyl, 129 pharmaceutical style pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and other weapons.

As a result of continued investigation, 24-year-old Julian Kitchener from Shoal Lake has been charged with:

  • one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code (Information #90538996).

Kitchener was also wanted on warrant by Carrot River RCMP for multiple charges, including firearms offences (Information #90577566).

32-year-old Wendell Greenleaf from Nipawin was arrested on warrant from Nipawin RCMP for charges including assault causing bodily harm (Information #90569102).

37-year-old Shelinda Vallier from Cumberland House was arrested on warrant from Melfort RCMP for charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm (Information #90527917).

The other individuals were released without charge.

Kitchener, Greenleaf, and Vallier are scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on April 1, 2026.
