Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating a death on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
RCMP say officers engaged in a stand-off with a man at a home on the community following reports of a domestic dispute this past Wednesday.
After several hours of trying to get the man to exit the home, RCMP say tear gas was used, but the man did not exit the home.
According to the RCMP, the man would later be found injured in the home and pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
RCMP say three firearems were revicered at the scene.
SIRT’s investigation will examine the conduct of the RCMP officers and the circumstances around the man’s death.
Authorities say no further information will be released at this time until the investigation is complete.
