Today, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission is announcing the approval and issuing of a licence to NexGen Energy Ltd. to prepare a site for and construct its Rook I Project.
When the commission is considering its decision, they carefully considered all submissions and input received during a 2-part hybrid public hearing.
The licence is valid until March 31, 2036, and authorizes site preparation and construction activities.
The Rook 1 project is to operate a new underground uranium mine on the Patterson Lake peninsula in the Athabasca Basin region in northern Saskatchewan, approximately 155 km north of the town of La Loche.
The Rook I project will include an underground and surface facilities to support the mining and processing of uranium ore.
