Tammy Cook-Searson has changed her mind and she will be seeking re-election for chief of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
In late 2025, Cook-Searson announced she would not seek re-election in the upcoming election in order to spend more time with her family.
However, in a video posted to social media this week, she says upon reflection she has decided to seek her eighth term in office.
Cook-Searson has served in the role for over twenty years as she was first elected in 2005.
Members of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band will vote for the next chief and council this spring.
The list of people running against Cook-Searson will be finalized following a nomination meeting on March 13.
