The Coronach/Bengough RCMP are investigating the theft of a live power pole from a farm near Coronach, Saskatchewan.
Police say the incident was reported on January 27, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m. and investigation determined that individuals entered the property, cut down a SaskPower pole, and removed it from the scene.
The pole was still live and connected to a transformer at the time.
The theft disrupted electricity service in the area for about two hours while crews from SaskPower worked to restore power.
Investigators believe the pole was dragged through the farmyard into a nearby field and may have later been loaded into a truck and removed.
The stolen pole has not been recovered.
Cst. Gary Christopher said the incident posed serious risks to both individual and public safety.
“An abandoned rural property does not necessarily mean utilities are shut down – severe injury or death may occur,” Christopher said. “Additionally, with winter conditions on that day, an action like this puts residents living in the area, and work crews, at risk.”
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Coronach/Bengough RCMP by dialling 310-RCMP.
