The Metis Nation-Saskatchewan is cutting some mental health programs for its citizens.
On Tuesday, some citizens shared to social media emails they received from the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan that funding for counselling and therapy services would be ending at the end of March.
On Wednesday, MN-S Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Beverley Fullerton issued a statement on the issue.
Her statement confirms that the Mental Health Support Line Program which provided counselling services for Metis citizens is ending in the coming weeks.
According to the statement, the cut in the program is due to federal funding cuts.
In the meantime, Fullerton says the Metis Nation will work with those affected on a transition plan.
Meanwhile, some critics are saying the MN-S waited too long to inform citizens that the funding was coming to an end.
Criticism is also being levied on the Metis Nation to open an Ottawa office at a time when mental health is not being funded.
