The Prince Albert Indian and Métis Friendship Centre is now in day three of its annual Sharing Our Voices to Heal Community Gathering, guided by Masters of Ceremonies Dakota Favel and Sarah Tweidt.
Each day begins in a good way, with opening prayers and drumming welcoming the guest and the day.
The gathering is held at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert, with today marking the final day of the event, wrapping up at 5 p.m.
Now in its fourth year, the gathering has grown into a combined men’s and women’s conference that brings together vendors, speakers, professional hairstylists, and healers under one roof. Attendees can enjoy free haircuts and tea leaf readings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout all three days.
It’s become one of those special events people look forward to each year — the kind you circle on your calendar because you don’t want to miss it.
They keep the event entertaining by having vibrant speakers and presenters but also by providing some great swag and prizes.
The atmosphere inside was warm and joyful. When I arrived, comedy duo Maureen and Duane were mid-performance, filling the room with laughter through their playful bingo dabber jokes and lighthearted storytelling.
Community organizations and vendors featured at the event include Studio Q, SIIT, Lucy Fern, Josephine Bishop, Inspired Designs, Martha’s Crafts, Jenn and Zak Tolley, Sage Bear Wellness, Donna McKay, Velma Gamble-Bannerman, Alan Bannerman, Jennifer Larock, Sparkles and Dangles, Mountain Aura Crystals, Sara’s Threadz, and Tribute of Beads — all contributing to the vibrant and supportive spirit of the gathering.
