The Canadian Challenge Dog Sled Race gets underway in northern Saskatchewan Tuesday morning.
The 10-dog, 322-kilometer race began today at 10am on the ice in front of at La Ronge’s Riese Park.
This year’s event will be a bit different.
In previous years, the dog teams left in two-minute intervals, but this year all 11 registered teams will start at the exact same time.
Meanwhile, the six-dog, 113-km race will begin tomorrow morning in Weyakwin and come to an end on Thursday in La Ronge.
According to organizers, the weather is shaping up to be great for the mushers with temperatures around the mid to high minus teens.
