Tracy Fiske from Air Ronge and her son, Bryce Fiske of Meadow Lake, became $1 million dollar winners in the December 26 LOTTO MAX draw.

Tracy had been out shopping for a turkey for Christmas dinner but couldn’t find one in Meadow Lake so she made a shopping trip.

The purchased winning LOTTO MAX ticket was from Co-op at 100 Main St. in Kinistino.

“They didn’t have any turkeys in Melfort, so I was like, ‘Okay I guess we’re going to Kinistino to get one!’” Tracy explained. “While we were there, I stopped at the gas station to buy a LOTTO MAX ticket.”

She wasted no time adding her name and her son Bryce’s to the ticket, as the two had a habit of buying tickets together for a few years, mostly for special draws or big jackpots.

“My mom started it, but we take turns and go buy a couple tickets and put both our names on them,” Bryce explained. “It’s random –it’s not every week –but we really did quite a few in a row while the jackpot was $80 million!”

“When I checked the ticket, I was like, ‘Is this real?’” Tracy said. “It didn’t seem real. I probably scanned it ten times.”

When Tracy shared the news with Bryce he couldn’t believe it at first.

“She called me and said, ‘How about I give you half a million dollars?’ Bryce said as he laughed.

The two winners are planning how they’ll enjoy their windfall.

“I’m going to pay off my vehicle and then see what happens,” said Bryce.

Both Tracy and Bryce describe it as incredible timing — and a total surprise — that a simple trip to pick up a turkey turned into a million-dollar LOTTO MAX win to begin 2026.

“It’s super exciting and to win in a small town in a country this big is unreal,” said Bryce.

They won their prize by matching one of the 46 MAXMILLIONS prize selections in the December 26 draw.
