The La Ronge 89ers are the champions of the Battle of the Nations.

The annual tournament, hosted by the Prince Albert Grand Council, took place at arenas across Prince Albert over the weekend.

The La Ronge 89ers would kick things off with a win against Norway House on Friday afternoon eventually closing the tournament with a win on Sunday night.

The 89ers won the championship game in overtime 5-4 against the Sandy Lake Chiefs at Art Hauser Centre.

Floyd Cook of the 89ers was named the MVP, Don Halkett was named top goalie, Robin Todd McKenzie was named top defenceman, and Kevin Roberts was named top coach.

Meanwhile, the Norway House Bruins won third place.

According to organizers, the tournament was another success.
