Chief Tammy Cook-Searson says she will not be seeking re-election for chief of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
The First Nation was scheduled for an election in March, but Cook-Searson says she will not be running.
Cook-Searson has spent over 20 years as chief of the reserve, with 8 years before that as a councillor.
Her only pause in her tenure was an attempt to enter federal politics in the 2019 federal election.
In a statement, Cook-Searson expressed gratitude for her years in the role and says she now wants to focus on being a wife, mother, and kohkum.
