On November 2, 2025, La Ronge RCMP received reports of a serious assault that occurred in front of a residence on Charles Street in Grandmother’s Bay, SK.
La Ronge RCMP police officers attended the scene and located an injured male and female.
The female was declared deceased by EMS at the scene.
She has been identified as 18-year-old Melissa Charles from Grandmother’s Bay.
The male was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
Investigators determined an altercation occurred between the suspect and the victims, which resulted in their injuries.
La Ronge RCMP arrested the suspect in the community shortly after the incident.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the police investigation
As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Keyland McLeod from Grandmother’s Bay has been charged with: assault with a weapon, second-degree murder, and uttering threats against a person.
Keyland McLeod appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on November 3, 2025.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
